The Automotive information technology AAS degree prepares individuals to use technical understanding and abilities to repair, service, and preserve all types of automobiles and light trucks. Through class direction and hands-on training, you will find out how to detect, service and repair brake systems, electrical systems, engine performance, engine repair, suspension and steering, automatic and manual transmissions and drive trains, and heating and air condition systems.

Graduates of this pathway will be required to take expert licensure examinations, which correspond to specific programs of study, and to go into professions as entry-level specialists in the transportation market.

Students who complete the Automotive Technology AAS degree are midway to making a bachelor' degree in Automotive information technology at SIUC. The trainees will have made 55 of the 129 semester hours of credit required for the degree.
